PE and Sport Premium
The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools in England to improve physical education (PE), physical activity, and sport.
Its purpose is to help schools:
-
improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.
-
encourage active lifestyles and increase participation.
-
support the development of physical skills and overall well-being.
PE and Sport Premium 2025-2026
Funding is calculated by reference to the number of pupils at each school. Primary Schools receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus an additional payment of £10 per pupil. This resulted in funding of £18,920 for the academic year 2025-2026.
At The Chandler, we are committed to providing high-quality physical education and sporting opportunities for all pupils. Through use of the grant, we strive to develop healthy, confident, and active learners who enjoy participating in sport and physical activity both in school and beyond.
The funding is used in a variety of ways, including:
Specialist PE Coaching
We employ qualified sports coaches to work alongside teachers, enhancing the quality of PE lessons and supporting staff professional development. This helps ensure pupils receive engaging, high-quality instruction across a range of sports and physical activities.
Staff Training and Development
Funding is used to provide training opportunities for teaching staff, increasing their confidence, knowledge, and skills in delivering effective PE lessons and promoting physical activity throughout the school day.
Extra-Curricular Sports Clubs
We offer a range of after-school sports clubs, allowing pupils to develop new skills, pursue their interests, and participate in regular physical activity outside curriculum time.
Competitive Sports Opportunities
The grant supports participation in local inter-school competitions, festivals, and tournaments. These opportunities help pupils develop teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and confidence while representing the school.
Equipment and Resources
We invest in high-quality sports equipment and resources to support the delivery of PE lessons, active playtimes, and sporting clubs, ensuring pupils have access to a broad and balanced range of activities.
Inclusive Sporting Opportunities
We aim to ensure that all pupils, regardless of ability or background, can participate and succeed in physical activity. Funding helps us provide targeted support, adapted activities, and opportunities that encourage participation for every child.
Swimming and Water Safety
Where appropriate, funding may also support swimming provision and water safety education, helping pupils develop essential life skills and achieve national curriculum expectations.
