Sport Premium
The Government is committed to funding primary school sport with money to be spent on improving the quality of sport and PE for all children.
PE and Sport Premium 2021/22
Funding is calculated by reference to the number of pupils at each school. Primary Schools receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus an additional payment of £10 per pupil. This resulted in funding of £19,539 for the academic year 2021 to 2022.
At The Chandler, the PE and Sport Premium funding is used to provide the two hours of statutory Physical Education required every week. Specifically, the funding supports coaches to provide an afternoon of sports activity for each year group. The Chandler runs a wide range of sports Clubs, providing opportunities for all our children to participate in football, tennis, judo, athletics and other sports and activities. These Clubs were up and running in the academic year 2021 to 2022, following an enforced break in the previous academic year due to the COVID restrictions. PE continues to be an important part of school life at The Chandler, not only on site during the school day but also with local sporting competitions.
Sport and PE provision at The Chandler was enhanced using the PE and Sport Premium funding for the academic year 2021 to 2022 as follows:
Action | £ |
Sports coaches providing two hours of quality PE entitlement to every child | £21,490 |
Investment in PE equipment and grounds maintenance | £9,842 |
Confederation Schools Sports Coordinators | £1 958 |
Provision of top-up swimming lessons over and above core lessons | £180 |
Total Estimated Cost in each year | £33,470 |
The impact of the additional funding has ensured:
- Provision of a wider range of games and activities offered to children
- Improved pupil attitudes and participation levels in sport
- Improved pupil fitness levels
