General uniform

Long Hair

Shoulder length or longer hair (boys and girls) must be tied back neatly. Children who do not have their hair tied back will be provided with a hairband or elastic band.

Make-up and Hair Colour

We do not allow dyed or highlighted hair at The Chandler.

Make-up, including nail varnish, is not permitted.

Earrings

Children with pierced ears may wear one small stud earring in each earlobe (hoops or dangly earrings are not permitted). However, the earrings must be removed for sport and PE activities. For this reason, children must be able to remove their earrings themselves – if they are unable to do so, please remove the earrings before school on PE days.

Watches

Watches may be brought into school, but please ensure that they are CLEARLY MARKED and handed to the class teacher for all PE and games lessons. Smart watches are treated in the same way as mobile phones.

Rings, necklaces and bracelets

Rings, necklaces are bracelets are not permitted in school.

However, a single charity band may be worn.

Mobile phones and other electronic equipment

Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not permitted in school. Should a child need to bring a mobile phone with them for use outside of school, a consent form first needs to be signed (Mobile Phone Permission Letter 2023-24) and the phone should be handed to the class teacher at morning registration.
