PTA - The Friends

Who are we?

The Friends are the equivalent of The Chandler PTA – we are a friendly and informal group who organise fundraising and social events throughout the year.

All The Chandler staff, parents and carers are automatically Friends, but anyone who is interested in supporting the children and the school is welcome to get involved – this includes staff, grandparents, family members, etc.

What do we do?

We raise money directly for the benefit of the children at the school – for example, new play equipment in the playground, IT equipment, books and equipment for the classrooms etc. In the last couple of years, we have bought new computers for the ICT suite, enabled ACE Day events to go ahead and helped fund the new music room.

COVID-19 notwithstanding, we typically run a variety of events each term – some for the children (such as Discos and the Leavers’ BBQ) and some for the parents (such as the Quiz Night), with our big events being the Fireworks, the Christmas Fair and Summer Fair. We are currently looking at ways to raise money while we cannot hold our usual events in school.

What can you do?

You can get as involved as you want to be! There are Friends meetings each half term to help plan events and decide what to fund for the school, but if you can’t make these there are plenty of opportunities to help out – such as selling cakes after school, baking cakes to sell, helping to set up events on the day, coming up with ideas for events and so on!
